MoPix-21 is a software program which converts NTSC video-based closed caption data into Rear Window Caption (RWC) format. It takes EXISTING closed caption (line-21) data as input, and creates output suitable for Rear Window Caption display boards.
NOTE: MoPix-21 DOES NOT create captions. It takes existing closed captions from broadcast video and other sources, and reformats the data into RWC format.
Typical use cases include:
- Playback of captioned videotape in the theater.
- Playback of captioned DVD video in the theater.
- Live-event captioning in the theater.
Hardware Requirements:
- Wintel-type computer
- 2 RS-232 serial ports, one for line-21 input, one for RWC output
- Source of closed-caption data (e.g. line-21 VBI data-recovery decoder)
- Rear Window Caption display board
Software Requirements:
- 32-bit MS Windows (tm) (NT, 2000, XP, etc.) operating system
