The Line-21 Decoder input window contains:
- Serial port setup button: To set up the serial port for inbound
data, make sure the port is closed with the Open/Close button, then
press the Setup button. The default parameters are:
COM1:, 1200 baud, Odd parity, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit This is the default for many (but not all) line-21 hardware devices. Make sure the MoPix-21 setup and your hardware match. - Serial port open/close button: The Open/Close button opens and closes the serial port. You'll need to open the port before you'll begin seeing data flowing to the decoder.**Note: The first time you run MoPix-21, it tries to open COM1: for input of line-21 data. If this is incorrect, the open will fail and you should set the port number to match your hardware. Any changes you make will be saved as preferences. MoPix-21 always opens serial ports when it starts, so it's operational out of the gate.
- Displayed and Non-Displayed Memory fields: The Displayed and Non-Displayed Memory fields emulate a line-21 caption decoder like you'd find in a television set. For pop-on captions (like on movies and sitcoms), you'll see text flip from non-displayed to displayed memory. For roll-up captions (like on the news), you'll just see each new line of text written directly in displayed memory (MoPix-21 doesn't try to emulate the scrolling visually).
