General preferences are accessed from the Preferences menu item in the File menu on the Main screen. The Preferences window contains the following controls:
- Beep on Message Display checkbox: The Beep on Message Display checkbox enables and disables an audible beep when system messages are written to the status bar at the bottom of most windows.
- Show Startup Caption checkbox: This checkbox enables and disables the display of a caption on the display when MoPix-21 first starts. If you don't want any startup message, uncheck this box. The default is to display the startup caption shown below.
- Show Startup Caption field: The Startup Caption field allows you
to set up a custom caption which is displayed when MoPix-21 first
starts. A startup message is useful to allow viewers to get their
reflectors adjusted prior to the start of the feature.
For multiline messages, use "<br>" tag between lines. For example, the startup message: Welcome to Rear Window Captions.<br>Please adjust your reflector.<br>The feature will start shortly. displays a two-line startup caption as follows: Welcome to Rear Window Captions.
Please adjust your reflector.
The feature will start shortly. - On Exit... radio buttons: The preferred option should be selected so that the RWC display is left in a known state when the application exits.
- Do Nothing does nothing. The display will be unpredictable.
- Startup Caption displays the startup caption (see above).
- Clear erases the display. .
- Show Wacky Output checkbox: The Wacky Output checkbox is just a
silly thing you can do to the output stream. This option is always
enabled for unregistered copies of MoPix-21. When enabled, the output
stream is translated to the selected dialect. For normal
operation, this should be unchecked.
