WGBH and its Media Access division can trace its commitment to using captioning to enhance literacy efforts back to the early '70s. Today, as captioning has become more prevalent everywhere in society, and descriptive narration is being discovered by more and more educators, NCAM remains at the forefront of research to find ways of making students of all ages create, use and enjoy the most accessible educational materials possible.
Media at Home + Work
Television, movies, radio, web sites... we're enjoying all of them everywhere, not just in the traditional venues of home, theaters, the car and in front of a computer monitor. As we achieve greater freedom in how we watch and listen, NCAM is working to make sure that wherever we watch and listen, captions and descriptions will follow the "content" and us.
