MAGpie2 Menu Reference

NEXT | CONTENTS

File

New	Create a new MAGpie project.
Open	Open an existing MAGpie project.
Save	Save changes in MAGpie project.
Save as	Save a MAGpie project under a new name.
Properties	View MAGpie project properties, including formatting options for captions and caption segments and identification of base media resource.
Exit	Quit MAGpie.

Tracks

Create new track	Create a new caption or audio description track.
Import track	Import a new caption track from text, RealText, QuickTime Text, or SAMI, or import text to be used for the transcript in a new audio description track.
Delete current track	Remove a caption or audio description track.
Track properties	Modify the name or language of a track.
Copy timecodes	Copy timings from one MAGpie track to another.
Select track (by name)	Select the name of a existing track to edit a different track.

Edit

Copy/cut/paste	Text manipulation options within the caption and audio description editing grids.
Find/replace	Locate and replace text within the caption and audio description grids.
Check spelling	Correct spelling errors in the current track.
Insert Music Note	Insert a musical note (♪) at the current cursor position. Musical notes are only supported on export to SAMI and DFXP.

Style

Bold/italic/underline	Format text in individual captions.
Align left/center/right	Align caption text.
Red/Green/Blue/Black	Common foreground text colors for captions.

Captions

Set start time	Set caption start time from media player timeline.
Set end time	set caption end time from media player.
Unset caption time	Remove caption start time for selected row.
Go to caption time in media	Synchronize media player to selected caption start time.
Find caption from media time	Locate caption with start time that matches the current media player time.
Inset new row below selected row	Create a new caption row.
Delete selected rows from table	Removes one or more contiguous rows.
Move selected row up	Move one caption one row up in the grid.
Move selected row down	Move one caption one row down in the grid.
Comment/uncomment selected captions	Temporarily exclude caption rows from caption timing and exports.
Insert captions from file	Insert captions from a plain text document.
Segment Manually	Open segmentation panel and create caption segments at selected points in a caption.
Segment by sentence	Open segmentation panel with each sentence in its own segment.
Segment by line	Open segmentation panel with each caption line in its own segment.
Segment by word	Open segmentation panel with each word of the caption in its own segment.
Discard segments	Remove segments for a single caption.

Audio

Set start time from media player	Set audio description start time from media player timeline.
Set media end time from player	Set audio description end time from media player timeline.
Go to media time in player	Synchronize player with start time from selected audio description row.
Unset media start time	Remove start time from selected audio description row.
Unset media end time	Remove end time from selected audio description row.
Record audio description	Record audio description and insert the filename into audio resource column of selected row.
Select Audio file	Choose an audio resource and insert the filename into audio resource column of selected row.
Set audio start time from audio player	When using an audio resource that is longer than needed for a specific audio description, set the start time within the audio resource. This is equivalent to the clipBegin (clip-begin) attribute value in SMIL.
Set audio end time from audio player	Set the end time for an audio description within a longer audio resource.
Go to audio start time in audio player	Synchronize audio player time with audio description row.
Unset audio start time	Remove value from audio start column for current row.
Unset audio end time	Remove value from audio end column for current row.
Insert audio transcriptions from file	Insert audio description transcript from plain text file.
Insert new row below selected row	Create new audio description row.
Delete selected row(s) from table	Remove audio description rows from the table.
Move selected row up	Move one audio description one row up in the table.
Move selected row down	Move one audio description one row down in the table.

Export

Plain text	Export a text file, with or without timecodes and commented entries.
QuickTime - SMIL 1.0 format	Export files for all tracks for QuickTime.
Real - SMIL 1.0 format	Export files for all tracks for RealPlayer.
Windows Media Player - SAMI format	Exports a SAMI file for Windows Media captions.
Adobe Flash - W3C DFXP	Exports a DFXP file for Adobe Flash via supported components and players (e.g. NCAM's "CC for Flash" component and ccPlayer).
BlackBerry (MP4, 3GP) - GPAC TTXT	Exports a stand-alone TTXT file or automatically integrates a TTXT file as closed captions into a copy of an MP4 or 3GP source file.

Playback

Play	Start playback of media player.
Pause	Pause playback of media player.
Reverse	Play media in reverse.
Step forward	Move media player timeline ahead one increment.
Step backward	Move media player timeline back one increment.
Fast forward	Play media quickly.
Fast backward	Player media quickly in reverse.
Slow forward	Play media slowly.
Slow backward	Play media slowly in reverse.
Show player	Make player window visible.
Hide player	Remove media player window from screen - useful when captioning an audio-only file.
Player window on top	Check the box on this menu item to place the media player in front of the main window.
Export changes on playback	When captioning very long files (more than 20 minutes), uncheck this option while captioning. This prevents delays from the frequent rewriting of the MAGpie project file. To see changes made to the captioning grid in the media player window, select 'Export changes now' or turn this feature on again.
Export changes now	Forces an update of the MAGpie project file. See 'Export changes on playback', above.
Play or pause	Plays or pauses the media player.
Stop playback	Stops the media player.
Set start time from media player	Sets the caption or audio description start time from the media player timeline.
Set end time from media player	sets the caption or audio description end time from the media player timeline.
