The main window contains:
- radio buttons to select the input type
- checkboxes to show or hide the various player stream windows
- fields to display the inbound line-21 data in both raw and human readable form
The Raw History field contains inbound raw data, comprised of readable text and other lucky charms and smiley faces. The Readable History field translates the raw data into readable data, representing the lucky charms and smiley faces as control bytes. You can click the red Control Code Reference label for a legend of the ASCII character table. THe History fields will periodically purge themselves so as not to waste memory. They're really just there as a confirmation that data is flowing.
The Chars Rec'd field simply counts inbound data, again giving feedback that data is flowing into the system. You may notice the Chars Rec'd field incrementing when no new data is accumulating in the History fields. This is normal for line-21: there may be null characters received, and these are not visually represented in CaptionKeeper to save space in the History fields.
The Capture menu has menu items to begin and end capturing for all modules at once, which can be useful in cases where multiple simulataneous output modules are in use.
